What is Ledger® Live and how login works
Ledger® Live is the official wallet manager for assets secured by a Ledger® hardware device. It exists as Ledger® Live Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and the Ledger® Live App for iOS and Android. Important: Ledger® Live does not store your private keys — those remain on your Ledger® hardware. The “login” process is a device handshake: run the app, connect your Ledger® device and approve the connection on the device by entering your PIN and authorizing actions on the hardware screen.
Ledger® Live Download & setup
- Download Ledger® Live only from the official Ledger® website or your OS app store.
- Install and open the app, choose “Initialize a new device” or “Connect existing device.”
- Connect via USB or Bluetooth (if supported), enter the device PIN, and allow the app to discover accounts.
Troubleshooting common login problems
If you see “Ledger Login not working” or “Error connecting Ledger® account”:
- Confirm the cable and port — use the original USB cable and avoid unpowered hubs.
- Update Ledger® Live and your device firmware before troubleshooting deeper.
- Temporarily disable VPNs, security software, or browser extensions that can interrupt USB or Bluetooth communication.
- Try a different computer or mobile device to rule out OS-specific issues.
Account recovery & 2FA reset
Ledger® uses a recovery phrase (seed) for account recovery. There is no central 2FA to “reset”; possession of the recovery phrase (and device PIN) is required to restore accounts. Never enter your recovery phrase into any website — restore only on trusted hardware or official Ledger® software.
Compatibility: Unable to use Ledger® with Trezor?
Ledger® and Trezor are separate hardware ecosystems. You cannot pair a Ledger® device directly with Trezor Suite. If you need cross-wallet support, use a reputable third-party wallet that explicitly supports both devices and follow each project's security instructions.
When to contact Ledger® Help Center
If you exhaust basic troubleshooting (cable, port, update, different device) and still face connection or device-signing errors, contact the official Ledger® Help Center. Prepare firmware version, Ledger® Live version, OS details, and exact error messages when you open a support ticket.
Frequently asked questions
How do I verify I downloaded Ledger® Live safely?
Use the official Ledger® website, verify checksums where provided, and avoid search-result mirrors or third-party download sites.
My Ledger® Live App is not working — what's next?
Update the app, reboot your phone, re-pair Bluetooth (mobile), or try USB on desktop. If persistent, reinstall Ledger® Live after exporting necessary logs for support.
Can I recover accounts without my Ledger® device?
Yes — restore the recovery phrase on a new Ledger® device or compatible wallet. Treat the phrase as the ultimate access key.
Is there a Ledger® 2FA reset?
Ledger® security is device + PIN + recovery phrase based; there is no centralized 2FA to reset. Restore using your seed if needed.
Why can't Ledger® Live verify my wallet?
Verification usually fails due to firmware mismatch, outdated app, or cable/connection issues — update and retry, then contact support if needed.
Can I use Ledger® Live and Trezor together?
Not directly. Use each manufacturer's official software or a trusted third-party wallet that supports both devices.
